Scent idea
Raw, forceful and complex, built around a rough exterior with warmth underneath.
The “Chí Phèo” fragrance is an emotionally contradictory journey, from sudden fury to the fragile moment of longing to be loved. Inspired by the immortal character in Nam Cao’s work of the same name, which exposes the tragic fate of poor peasants pushed by society onto the path of dehumanization. Chí Phèo transforms from a virtuous village man into a “cruel demon,” but hidden deep within that fierce image is the longing to be human, to be loved.
The opening is the freshness of bergamot, like the last ray of light from peaceful, virtuous days, before being swallowed by the spicy intensity of black pepper. Then when the anger subsides, the fragrance reveals the flickering warmth of cedarwood and ambroxan, like the humanity remaining beneath Chí’s rough exterior — a reminder that no matter how lost we become, there is always an opportunity to find ourselves again.
