explore now A PROUD ORIGIN – WHEN LITERATURE BECOMES SCENT
Thơmore’s first collection was born from a desire to bring the rich treasury of Vietnamese culture into contemporary life through the world of scent.
To realise that desire, Thơmore spent more than a year tracing its way back to Vietnamese cultural materials, six months wrestling with the market’s questions, and six more months of research to shape the most refined fragrances of our first collection — Vietnamese Literature.
And the answer we found after that long journey rests in a shared memory every Vietnamese person knows: seven literary works learned by heart in the textbooks of generation after generation. Time may pass and these masterpieces may now belong to everyone, yet the value and intimacy behind each word remain whole.
With deep respect and gratitude to the authors who came before, the Thơmore team reimagined those seven classic stories as seven fragrances. Now scent is not only a silent language but a storyteller — so anyone can “wear” the prose they cherish and carry it forward into real life.
A VISUAL MARK – AWAKENING THE RED — KIM HOÀNG
For Thơmore, a fragrance is complete only when it awakens both smell and sight. We long to weave traditional beauty into every design, so each glance touches a piece of history. Among countless choices, instead of names already fixed in the public mind, Thơmore chose to awaken a sleeping heritage: the red paintings of Kim Hoàng.
Carrying more than 300 years of history, Kim Hoàng was once a celebrated folk-painting tradition across the old capital each Lunar New Year. Yet few know it was the only one of Vietnam’s 30 folk-painting traditions to be entirely lost after the Tết of 1947. It took nearly 70 years — until 2016 — for that vivid red to be revived. Fate led Thơmore to artisan Đào Đình Chung, who gathered the dust-covered woodblocks from the village communal house to restore the strokes of his forebears.
Watching him keep the flame alive and live fully by his craft in his own small home, we knew: this was the perfect piece to inspire and distil into Thơmore’s designs. Bringing Kim Hoàng’s brushwork onto each fragrance is not a decorative flourish — it is how Thơmore keeps telling the story of a 300-year-old heritage, proudly reborn in the present.
And now, we invite you to turn each page with Thơmore and breathe in every fragrance to discover this special collection in full…
